Re: Golden Butterfly asset location when retired with RMDs
Thanks pp4me! That's virtually identical to what I'm doing. I'm still saving and not drawing down of course, but the asset distribution among accounts should be the same. Main difference is that when I retire, I'll dump out all my 401K/403b accounts into a single IRA so that I have full control over...

Looks yummy Mark! But mojito has a ton of sugar. Pugchief back to the fluoride question....I disagree about fluoride in toothpaste not being systemically absorbed. If it can get into your teeth, it should be much more easily absorbed through gums and mucus membranes. It's also a small molecule so ve...

Re: Golden Butterfly asset location when retired with RMDs
I would do what I'm already doing: pack the tax-deferred accounts with cash, gold and bonds. These are the assets that are likely to gain the least over time. use tax-exempt (Roth and HSA) for stocks. I put some gold in here also. In taxable you want stocks, savings bonds, and "deep" physical gold. ...

Re: Chauvin Verdict
What Maddy said! Almost everything that the Democratic/liberal establishment claims to do for racial minorities contains in it an assumption that they need help to survive in our society, and are congenitally unable - by virtue of their race - to do so on their own. How on earth can you not call tha...

Re: Chauvin Verdict
Moda, in my posts I have not commented on the facts of the case - because none of us are qualified to do so, not having examined them in the same level of detail that the jury was obliged to do. Chauvin's conviction on all counts might be perfectly legit. My concerns - and Maddy's - has to do with w...

I hope this doesn't turn out like flu vaccine where you can't tell if it really does anything. My favorite statistic for flu vaccine. Immunized workers who do catch the flu return to work half a day sooner on average Well, the flu vaccine is about trying to predict next year's dominant flu strain, ...

Re: Chauvin Verdict
Yes, on that score it's pretty clear that Derek Chauvin is getting a kangaroo court proceeding and not a trial. Given what Biden has put in motion to interfere with the Supreme Court, it's pretty clear he has no truck with justice. And of course, I hope that everyone can see how this trial has highl...

Ah. I wonder if it's one of those new variants - the existing vaccines are bound to have limited protection against those. They weren't designed for them.

Just a few thoughts...you didn't mention being out of breath but could it have something to do with the mask you're wearing? Is it different from the one you had on before? Or did you not use one before? I also favor the prolonged inactivity (e.g. while sick & quarantined) and time needed for full l...

3. I personally know several people who got the jab (not sure if it was both doses) and still caught Covid Did they get sick with COVID or was it just a positive test? Sick. Although not severely. My GF's boss, who was vaccinated, got a mildish case when her husband brought it home from somewhere. ...

I would expect that natural sunlight exposure is a better way to get vitamin D than synthetic supplements, but those of us in northern latitudes who spend a lot of time indoors are not going to get enough that way. Remember the human race evolved in Africa, then only much later spread to cold clima...

You're welcome and glad it (may have) worked for you!!!!! I used it when my symptoms were a bit more advanced, because I always wonder if it's allergies or something at the start. I was astounded when I tried it and the symptoms just melted away in a matter of hours....never experienced anything lik...

Re: Need a realtor to sell a home in this market?
Yup, you got it Maddy. I love that the apartment purchase we're heading into now involves no one else except our attorneys (sort of optional) and the seller's daughter, who is an attorney. It'll be refreshing compared to the usual web of brokers and bank mortgage agents.

Re: New I-bond rate: 3.54%
Tipswatch has announced that the new variable component of I-bonds will reset to 3.54% on May 1, 2021. Even if the new fixed rate is announced as 0%, that means that the composite rate for the next six months of I-bonds is guaranteed to be at least 3.54%. 1. If you have not yet purchased your quota...

Re: Need a realtor to sell a home in this market?
Unless you really know what you're doing you should probably get a realtor. I'm buying an apartment for my mother direct from a seller in my coop. No brokers involved, and for cash. The price the seller asked is so low, I'm afraid the board might not be pleased about it. I was expecting an ask of mo...

I'm glad you found something light hearted in the news today Maddy, because otherwise it's all kinda depressing. Most especially, that Joe Biden (or whoever is controlling him behind the scenes) has taken the first steps toward Supreme Court packing by convening a commission. Which is of course seve...

Xylitol gum is good, but if you're at home, brushing with an ADA approved fluoride toothpaste is better. Hey pugchief....is fluoride toothpaste really necessary? Re: Optimal Diet
There are a couple of ways that carbohydrates mess with your sense of hunger. One way is that they break down readily into more sugars than your body can easily handle, so the insulin/fat storage system kicks in. It goes like this: high blood sugar spike -> high insulin spike -> blood glucose is red...

That electric conversion kit (Swytch) sounds like a great addition to my existing bike and lightweight, but it's got a 6 - 9 month waiting list! Back to thinking an electric scooter would be a nice addition to my closet in the meantime. Just for short, quick trips, meaning...low cost and doesn't hav...

Electric scooter or bike electric assist recommendations
As I live in a very hilly area and I'm not getting any younger, I'm a little tired of climbing long steep hills on a bike. My usual route includes a stretch of about 0.4 miles with an elevation gain of about 200 feet, and an incline that's around 20 degrees at its steepest. Yeah ok it's not Mount Ev...
