Aldi accepts all major credit cards.

Note, I receive no compensation from Aldi. ;)

Square? That may be how I come across here personality-wise but when it comes to personal appearance / clothes? I'm in the Casual Hall of Fame! A few people have referred to me as Gandalf even though I don't really know who it is aside from being some Lord of the Rings character? Never read any of ...

Oh nuts, I wasn't awake yet, and somehow read "grandchild" and didn't read "19 year old."

Forget the Custodial account, put it directly in a Roth.

Re: $250 investment for a 19 year old?

Looks like a cool book O0 With such a small amount, $250, I would keep it simple. Either an S&P500 ETF in Fidelity — because you’re right about the $1000 minimum for Vanguard funds — or even a savings bond. A savings bond is not going to lose and might be better to watch for the next 12 months than...

Re: $250 investment for a 19 year old?

I would open a custodial account for the child, and purchase a total stock market fund or total world fund. Later, when the child has earned income, I'd deposit the balance into a Roth IRA account. Roth funds don't count against the child on a FAFSA. The child can earn income through a summer or par...

Re: PP YTD performance - was it the worst ever?

This is a fair criticism, but the error is expecting gold to save a portfolio just because it happened to do so many decades ago. No portfolio can be trusted, they will all fail us at some point. It's premature to count gold out, isn't it? Lots of analysts say that what is happening with gold right...

Re: PP YTD performance - was it the worst ever?

I’ve said it here a billion times. The ONLY thing that separates the PP from a traditional, passive portfolio is Gold. All others have some allocation to stocks, bonds and cash. Gold has proven once again its relationship to unexpected high inflation is putrid. PP followers hold Gold for this very ...

Can you elaborate? Seemed pretty insightful both at the time and in hindsight. Yeah...

The more I look at stuff, the more I see politically-motivated interpretations. Whatever, it has helped me, albeit just on symptoms and general comfort. I probably was in no danger of ending up in a hospital, though. Not unless it had taken a radical turn for the worse, which never seemed likely. I...

But if not, HB had some insight which applied to this. Namely that you can't count on markets to repeat the reactions of past history, because people adapt. The gold market has changed so much over the past two decades that I don't think you can predict how it will behave.

Re: Ivermectin Report

It seems clear that Ivermectin is quite safe when taken at reasonable dosages. The question has always been whether it's effective against Covid. Most studies I've seen have shown that it is not, but I'm quite open to contrary evidence. I saw this study a couple months ago: https://www.nejm.org/doi/...

Yeah, interesting summary. It seems that the expectation/hope was that the falling gas prices would offset core inflation, but that didn't happen. Food price inflation is particularly ugly.
