I thought the "d" in "Covid" stood for "disease". Isn't Covid-19 the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus?

Re: The debt celing soap opera explained so simply that even a member of Congress can understand it
As much as I generally agree with GOP priorities over Dem ones, and with the idea of a government that spends less, i have to agree with D1984 that the current standoff is the GOP's fault and they should back down. The time to take a stand for less spending is when the spending statutes are being de...

The real fix is for funds to not have voting rights; the voting rights should belong to whoever's money it actually is. Is there any progress on that front?

Re: U.S. money supply suffers sharpest contraction since Great Depression
The measure of trust for a random site is whether or not it's mentioned on Wikipedia? Not totally. More of a sign that if some negative information about it is on Wikipedia then one should probably use the web site with caution. So... Any site that doesn't have negative information about it on Wiki...

I didn't see it just now. Using a real search engine with a site filter is probably going to work better anyway, though.

Re: Portfolio Eintstein?
Was it written by AI? I'd rate it extremely unlikely. You can go there and judge for yourself but I don't think AI is capable of creating a list of 50+ investing books to read broken down into four categories. All in all a highly impressive web site, packed with useful information. Sounds like exac...

I-Bond sale calculator
Does anybody know of a calculator to assist with selling I-Bonds? On the TD page it shows me the date each was issued, and the interest rate it's currently earning. It isn't clear how that interacts with the 3-month interest rate penalty, nor does it tell me what the composite vs fixed rate is for t...

In his latest Tipswatch article, David Enna notes that on May 7th Treasury Direct will finally make a change to its clunky keyboard, so hopefully that aspect of the user experience will be improved. The keyboard is clunky. It does its job of preventing the site from being vulnerable to keyloggers. ...

Re: How much to save for retirement
You might be able to get a directive to not feed you, then when you start starving/dehydrating, be put into hospice (morphine drip). Hideous. Maybe I should get that Wingsuit. Yes, advance directives are very important and you should get that done. Make it as specific as you can, because many of th...

Re: House Dems To Biden: 'Hands Off Assange!'
It's absurd that Julian Assange is still being targeted by the US government, while the source of his information, Bradley (now Chelsea) Manning, is living free. Manning indiscriminately leaked information that had no reason to be released. A personal example; I was deployed to Afghanistan at the t...

Not sure whether this is paywalled: https://www.wsj.com/articles/top-stock-fund-managers-14d3123 It's the WSJ's roundup of actively managed funds that have done well recently. Most of the time I just ignore this kind of thing: some funds get lucky and will revert to the mean later on. This one I tho...

glennds, am I correct that it's your position that the bad publicity of this kind of thing and the threat of lawsuits keeps it from being a big deal?
