Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Mark, you might also consider a ferratin test, at least every once in a while. Hemochromatosis can sneak up on you.

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

Do they have pre-determined names for variants in alphabetical order like they do hurricanes? If so, we're up to O and there are only 10 left before they start using numbers. You may count 11, but I read somewhere that the letter X would be ommitted because it would be the "Xi" variant and they did...

Re: Would you wear a mask?

I believe Mark's point is that if the vaccine worked, the behavior of the unvaccinated wouldn't affect the vaccinated, and so if anybody who's vaccinated complains about people being unvaccinated, that makes them vaccine deniers. Of course this point of view relies on a number of flawed assumptions,...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion

You can get an injection or infusion of monoclonal antibodies. I don't think it needs to be done at a hospital, even. That seems to be the thing to do now to arrest the progress.

Re: Figuring Out Religion

It does reduce confusion with the church labeled "Catholic", but I'm against it and would call it an error, whether translation or otherwise. I always say "catholic" when reciting the Creed myself. In fact when we say the Athanasian Creed, annually on Trinity Sunday, we DO say "catholic" in that on...

Re: Figuring Out Religion

It's more of a translation issue, I think. Medieval German didn't have a word for "catholic", and the Reformation was the first time the Creeds were translated into languages other than Latin. In the Missouri Synod today, our Creed is descended from the Creed that the earlier Lutherans had used, so ...

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

The Tokyo/Ivermectin post is utter nonsense. Ivermectin is not widely used in Japan to treat Covid. They are doing some studies on Ivermectin, but to claim that the Covid numbers declining are due to Ivermectin use is simply false. There is a lot of disinformation out there. One can just spread it ...

Re: Still Here... By The Skin Of My Teeth

Maybe he thinks worrying about what's helpful and what isn't will only lead to mollycoddling, and the most productive thing is to call it like he sees it. Smith, Mark has been a big fan of yours, and that is high praise. It's hard to deal with somebody you had on a pedestal falling to earth. That's ...

"De" isn't exclusively Italian, either. Paul deJong (pronounced basically "De Young") plays on the St Louis Cardinals. I know other folks with that name who render it "De Young". I don't think that particular name is Italian at all.

It's probably best to avoid permanent decisions right now, such as suicide, body mutilation, tattoos. Of those three though you picked the right one.

Re: Reasons why I will not be getting injected for the Wuhan

Ron Destantis is signing an anti-vaxx mandate bill today in Brandon, Florida. That seems to be more symbolic than anything else right? Biden's people claim that OSHA overrides any state rules as far as workplace safety. So if using OSHA to force vaccines goes thru then the state law would not matte...

Can't stock certificates be transferred without being reported back to the corporation or their agent?
I would have thought so, but your harrowing story above about how they might need to contact you or your stock becomes worthless kind of belies that.

Re: Still Here... By The Skin Of My Teeth

I saw someone on the news last night, don't remember where, but they said that 1 in 4 college students had contemplated suicide during the month of June. They attributed it to COVID but I don't know how true that is. Anyway, Smith1776, you are apparently not alone. Zdogg had a video recently on anx...

I remember my conversation with Xan, pre-pandemic, in which I had ideas for heavy-handed responses to those who weren’t vaccinating their children for measles, (e.g. the Orthodox Jews in Westchester or Rockland or somewhere). Namely, not allowing them in public school. Xan said I had a very definit...
