Re: Good Article about Gold ETF's also Tax Loss Harvesting Tip

"Well, did you expect the asset you bought to behave the same?" - IRS auditor prob will never be worth their effort to enforce. Until you show me someone who has actually been audited for this, precedent set in the courts, or some clarification from the IRS explaining what "substantially identical"...

Re: Time to Return to the Gold Standard?

Sure Id vote for a transparency law like that. It would expose the corruption in politics and bring world peace :) (I can hear technovelist screaming from his bunker) > what would be a more accurate version of your subjective Bitcoin-is-adopted-sufficiently? When we need to use it, or when it does ...

Re: Tax loss harvesting

You need to be careful with that. I believe the rule is that the replacement investment can't be "substantially identical". Two S&P 500 indices would almost certainly fall afoul of that. But if you're switching between total market and S&P for example, you might be in the clear. For example, for gol...

Re: The Left is Eating Itself Pt. II

What about the Morehouse students who worked their tails off in order to start their post-college lives with little or no debt? Do they get anything? (Are there any?) Or what about the ones who didn't go to Morehouse because they didn't want to take on debt? It's a very generous gift, and any compla...

Re: Invest like Buffett?

Buffet's always had inside info starting with his father, a congressman. His companies sell unhealthy food (See's candy, coke, McDs) and he product places these in interviews. Not sure he's a God. But good on him for admitting taxes are too low It makes my blood boil when he says that about taxes. ...

Re: Is all cash on hand considered part of the PP

I never consider cash as spendable if it is part of the portfolio unless I had to .....cash serves a purpose and it would upset the balance of things to treat the cash as spending cash ....in the pp rather cash has two uses ... first it acts to temper the duration of the long term treasuries and se...

Is the zip file truly unrecoverable? Can you post it somewhere for us to look at?

I actually want to go back in time, to when aerodynamics weren't taken into account. I LOVE the look of the old boxy, straight line vehicles from the 90s. Or even the ones from the 70s and 80s that were a bit curvier.
I'd love to have one of those late 80s/early 90s Suburbans.

It's nice to have, but I wouldn't want to rely on it. Do you really change lanes without looking as long as that thing isn't going off? I think he said the opposite. He still looks even when it is sounding. Oh, you're right. Somehow I missed that. And in fact he still changes lanes even when it's s...

I always apply those little round extra mirrors to my side mirrors. No more craning around to check blind spots.

Actually Ford is really good about including that kind of mirror built-in.

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

Sure it includes you. It's "people who don't have a job". It includes children, retirees, housewives, you name it.

As long as unemployment (the number of people who want to work but aren't) is low, I think the more people who don't have a job, the better. Doesn't that mean we're prosperous?
