Re: Why did Pelosi cross the road?

As for Australia, I haven't heard that story. Please post a link. Hal, one of the Australian posters on this forum, provided frequent real time updates and links to the local news coverage during the entire lock down period. This was his most recent post on that subject. Excerpt from Jim Rickards n...

Re: On Civility

In other words, a community of intellectually exceptional people needs more care paid to people's feelings to avoid it exploding, not less. I like this perspective. There's some real truth to it. I'll have to think about it a bit to see if I agree that it is a "good thing". It definitely is a good ...

Acknowledge the need to explicitly work on our civility and tolerance skills, so we can remain a heterogeneous community of oddballs with weird opinions and political positions without coming away hating one another or descending into mockery, disingenuousness, or crabby negativity. What I hated about my manual rental car in Italy was that reverse and 1st were the same position, but you had to push the stick in to access reverse, and a beep would sound.
Hah! That sounds like a horrible design. Must have been Fiat.

Re: Is the stick a dying art?

My rental car last month was an automatic with paddle shifters. This was on the big island of Hawai'i and we had lots of steep hills and narrow winding roads. I hated it. You can't move directly from a high gear (say 5 or 7) to a low gear like 3. You have to step through the gears. Plus, you can't t...

Re: Is the stick a dying art?

From a pure performance standpoint, I've heard that the technology is better and faster at shifting than the best high performance human driver. But I don't think that refers to all automatics. Probably only the most high end high performance cars. I see this argument all of the time. And it may be...

I've read about the PP on and off for years and just came across the idea that gold outside one's country is recommended, I love the idea. And KBG I reject your premise that civility is a good thing. Whenever I read civility I translate it to civility bullshit . Any mention of civility is invariably a ruse to manipulate the unwashed into following a different agenda. A civil agenda. Purveyors of civility are bullshit artists.

Also, if I ever sold the physical I would have alot of anxiety about selling to a dealer like apmex, mailing it, hoping nothing goes wrong. Do a test run with just a coin or two. I have seen some postings over the last few days that the pumps shut you off at $100.

That probably seemed ridiculously high and unreasonable when the programming was done.
