Re: I Bonds for Permanent Portfolio

For most of us who are into personal finance (I think that's why most of us are here, right?) we feel the little optimizations add up to something worthwhile over time. <snip> For many of us sticking a portion of our cash in I-bonds each year is totally worth it. No opinion on iBonds per se, but I ...

I’d like to see the unvaccinated peasants storm the castle somewhere. And not the selfie taking kind of January 6 in Washington. The kind with pitchforks.

Re: Figuring Out Religion

I was a mere lad when some Californian (torturer of women) dude invented Kwanzaa. But a lucky man I was to be there when history was born after the Watts riots. When I think of all of the transparently thin also ran holidays that attempt to hitch a free ride on the glory of the Solstice Debauchery ,...

Happy Boxing Day to all!

This is a day well spent in fox hunting or betting on the horses at the tracks.

And, of course, make sure to leave a box of leftovers for the servants before heading out with the horses.

Good luck to all!

Re: Figuring Out Religion

Happy Solstice everyone.

I usually like to spill a little wine on a nice oak tree during the solstices, but this year I settled for a majestic palm.

I think I'll head over to La Paz tomorrow. I do enjoy a good Mexican Catholic Christmas.

I spent a lot of 2019 in the Northern Territories. Beautiful country. Later in the year, the rest of the Eastern coast, slowly traveling down to Melbourne.

Ah... damn. What can I say?

Hal, I hope you are safe. It looks like three fugitives have broken loose from the government quarantine camp at Howard Springs. Rumored to be aboriginals. Stay safe. Hope you are okay. Update . All of the fugitives were caught. All tested negative for Covid. They were all teenagers. So... thank god...

Thank's Xan. Probably something to think about with the amount of red meat I eat. Of course, if I get blood drawn frequently enough, the problem would be self correcting :) And pp4me, Xan is just talking about problems associated with excessive iron in the bloodstream. I've never looked into that, s...

Re: Would you wear a mask?

Why do you say that? Well, you’re a smart man. And a chemist. And a hard scientist. So I suspect that you know it was a bit in jest. But only semi-jest. In very crude terms you shouldn’t give a damn what the unvaccinated do if you are vaccinated. But you do. Thus…. the vaccine isn’t all that and a ...

So, it turns out that the immune system can actually do it's job in a pinch. Even the Christians (Protestant/Catholic) and the Muslims (Sunni/Shia) can't agree on what's what, so how do you expect the rest of the religions to concur? If you follow the logic, it's Mexican Catholic all the way. https://www.gyroscopicinvesting.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5424&p=131896&hilit=...

Re: Still Here... By The Skin Of My Teeth

I’ve reevaluated. I’m not getting it removed. I quite like it. Nothing wrong with Euler's Identity. It is a fine formula. But getting it tattooed on your wrist is a bit fucked up. Think about that. I'm not a psychoanalyst but I play one on the internet. I would normally just recommend that you leav...

You're in a complex phase.
Break the Identity. There is a region beyond the circle.

Or get drunk and Euler.
