Re: Anonymous SJW Chatbots

Sort of ironic that our internet security system at work (Cisco Umbrella) blocks Startpage's anonymous viewer "browse.startpage.com".

That's no fun, but I guess I can see how it could be abused.

Re: Anonymous SJW Chatbots

The Startpage.com website says they've been profitable since 2004. How are they making money?

For your phone there is also Firefox Focus, which is "a dedicated privacy browser with tracking protection and content blocking".

Re: Chrome has become surveillance software. It’s time to switch browsers.

Yes, I use Firefox, Ad Block Plus, and set my default search engine to Duck Duck Go. However, I assume it’s only marginally better and nothing is going to be perfect. Occasionally a site won’t work and I’ll have to use Chrome in an incognito window.

Re: % of gold asset in ETF or CEF for rebalancing purposes

Thank you pmward. You are giving us a lot of confidence that we are doing the right thing. Now all I have to do it somehow decide to buy the gold at around 1400. It is hard psychologically when I almost bought it at 1280 a few weeks ago. It feels like I should just go ahead and do it as my sense is...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

I like Mayor Pete. Most well spoken one of the bunch. And a military vet. I'd be interested to see the response across America to a president who is gay and a veteran. I suppose some heads will explode. I live near Indianapolis, and when Mayor Pete's name comes up, people chortle "go visit South Be...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

Even so, I can’t believe you put freedom of the press first and then praised him. Is this satire? What official actions has Trump taken to deny anyone freedom of the press? Or do you consider complaints and whining to be official actions? It’s something in between official actions and mere whining....

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

... I pretty much could care less who is in political power positions as long as they promote in speech and action these criteria: *freedom of the press, ... ... As for Trump, he seems to be doing more of the above criteria than some of his predecessors. Is he perfect? No human is. Even so, I can’t...

Re: Google sheets and WSJ bond prices

This is an old thread but the title is appropriate. It looks like WSJ updated their bond price page, which caused my Google Sheets formula to fail. The new formula I'm using is this: =vlookup(date(YYYY,MM,DD),importhtml("https://www.wsj.com/market-data/bonds/treasuries", "table",1),3,FALSE) Where YY...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

He was asking whether flyingpylon's suggestion applied to the pro-Trump ones. It didn’t, because the discussion was specifically about Trump. But generally speaking, I don’t advise that people allow things that bother them to live rent-free in their head. It doesn’t seem healthy. A guy named Harry ...

Re: Will Trump be Re-elected?

Here's a challenge for anyone that is relatively certain that there's nothing Trump could do or say to change their opinion about him:

Ignore him for a month or two. At the end, see if your life was better or worse during that time. Then move forward as you wish.
